Oliver Naden is a 17-year-old self-taught sequential artist from Norman, Oklahoma, turning 18 in November 2026, whose work shows exceptional technical mastery and visual storytelling.

A member of the National Honor Society with a 3.75 GPA, Oliver brings the same discipline to his academics as he does to his art. Identified as Gifted and Talented in Visual Arts by Norman Public Schools, he was also selected by his art teacher for Independent Study in Art for both his Junior and Senior years, an opportunity reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional skill and self-discipline, and one that requires a formal teacher recommendation. His artistic achievements within Norman Public Schools span a decade: a ten-year All City Art Show qualifier, a two-time Young Talent recepient recognized by the Oklahoma Art Education Association, placing in the top 15% of young artists regionaly and earning a Bronze Award in 2025, and recognition across two consecutive years as an Oklahoma State Fair qualifier, with a Merit Award for his sophomore year submission, a 2025 Mayfair qualifier, and a 2026 qualifier recognition from the Mabee-Gerrer Museum in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Oliver has volunteered with the Firehouse Art Center in Norman, Oklahoma, where he had the opportunity to help install a historic comic book museum exhibition featuring original, signed vintage comics and collections. His exceptional talent was further recognized when the Director of the Firehouse Art Center offered him a scholarship to an exclusive one-day sequential art class led by Aargon Starr, an acclaimed independent comic author known for her powerful Native American storytelling. Oliver was the only teenager invited to participate alongside adult students.

In May 2026, Oliver participated as a vendor at a Free Comic Book Day event hosted at a local comic book store, selling original artwork and fan art prints alongside professional artists and creators. The experience marked an early, confident step into the professional comic community, demonstrating both his entrepreneurial initiative and the appeal of his work to the public.

In the Summer of 2026, Oliver was selected as one of only 17 students statewide for an Oklahoma Arts Institute scholarship to the prestigious Quartz Mountain Summer Arts Camp, an intensive two-week residential program in the drawing and painting category, chosen from a highly competitive applicant pool representing the best young artists across Oklahoma. His participation was formally recognized with a signed certificate bearing the gold medallion seal of Governor Kevin Stitt, honoring his artistic excellence. Oliver and his fellow program students’ artwork is now part of the Tour de Quartz, a year-long traveling exhibition currently on display at the Paseo Arts District in Oklahoma City, with the show traveling to galleries across Oklahoma through 2027. Oliver’s piece, an untitled salt chalk work depicting a Native American buffalo hunt, is among the works on display.
